Originally created for Publishing 131, this type of poster showcases historic fonts alongside the famous pop culture icons they have been a part of.

Handel Gothic

The first one of the series features “Handel Gothic”. A typeface was first developed in 1965 and praised for its futuristic design. This lead to a resurgence in the 1980s and was eventually used in 1995’s Star Trek Voyager.

Univers

Univers was designed in 1957 by famed Swiss-type designer Adam Frutiger. You may have seen this font used in various airports and metro stations. The poster references Star Wars as a stylized version of the font was used in its logo.

Futura Black

First designed in 1929 by Paul Renner, Futura Black serves as an alternative of the standard Futura typeface, utilizing stencil letter forms.

The font is notable for being in use for the public safety departments for the city of Boston and in the 2021 James Bond film “No time to die”
